AI Is an Accelerator; The Advantage Is Knowing What to Build
Debating whether AI is /good/ or \bad\ misses the point. It is an accelerator, and the sooner one accepts that, the sooner one can focus on how to leverage it to his advantage.
History repeats itself whenever a foundational shift arrives:
- Compilers and High-Level Languages: when Fortran arrived, critics argued high-level code was inefficient and would devalue the prestige of assembly programmers. In reality, abstraction expanded the entire software industry and made the modern digital world possible.
- The Automobile: horse drawn carriage ecosystems were disrupted, but mobility created entirely new economies.
- Digitization: paper-first workflows resisted computers until efficiency rendered resistance irrelevant.
The goal has never been about gatekeeping the means .. it has always been about the outcome and the value delivered using the best tools available.
Work doesn’t need to start perfect -> it iterates -> … While purists debate the drawbacks, builders are already using the technology to solve real problems.
Here’s what I think: AI itself will become a baseline utility, much like electricity or the internet. The competitive advantage won’t belong to the technology, but to those who know what to build with it.
